«It has now been decided to organize the International Cartographic Conference (ICC) 2021 in Florence [Firenze] as a hybrid event 14-18 December 2021. I nevertheless warmly recommed you to visit this wonderful city. Abstracts for papers are due by 15 January and 26 March 2021, respectively. Please visit the conference website for detailed information and abstract submission (https://www.icc2021.net/).
At ICC Tokyo 2019 our Commission had three sessions with in total 11 papers. It would be great to arrive at a similar contribution to ICC Florence. Our sessions are open for all kinds of toponymic papers, but papers with a cartographic orientation would be most welcome, e.g. on topics like
- name placement on maps
- choice between endonym and exonym
- script conversion
- contents and structure of gazetteers and toponymic data files
- place-name standardization
- harmonization of place names across borders
Updates (news in Red) to our events in the first half of 2021:
IGU Conference on Heritage Geographies: Politics, Uses and Governance of the Past, Lecce (Italy), 26-28 May 2021, with toponymic sessions on “Place names as a part of the cultural heritage” (25 papers already submitted and accepted; additional abstracts can be submitted).
THE CONFERENCE WILL BE HELD AS A VIRTUAL EVENT. A WEBSITE WITH FURTHER DETAILS AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION WILL BE ESTABLISHED SOON.
